Behind the Scenes: A Day in My Life as a Pilates Instructor, Mom & Wife
Sep 15, 2025
Because somehow, coffee + Pilates + toddler negotiations = my full-time job description.
People often ask me what a “typical day” looks like for me as a Pilates instructor, mom, and wife. The short answer? There’s no such thing as typical. The longer answer? It’s a mix of movement, motherhood, and marriage—with a few unexpected moments thrown in daily.
So here’s a peek behind the scenes at how I juggle it all… and still (usually) make it to bedtime with my sense of humor intact.
🌅 Morning: Coffee, Chaos & Core Work
My day starts early—I've always been a morning person, and luckily, my toddler is not 😅
Before anything else, I drink water, sip my coffee, meditate, and mentally prepare for the morning routine. Breakfast for Jaxson, breakfast for me, and about six reminders for him to go to the potty before we head out the door.
If it’s a filming day, I’ll squeeze in some light movement—usually a walk outside—to get my body ready. If it’s not, I’m probably doing house chores or playing with/teaching things to my toddler. Honestly, I do anything but work with my kid is awake because I can't focus on anything with constant requests for snacks or needing help building a race car track.
💻 Mid-Morning: Teaching & Creating
On weekends (my full workdays), my husband takes over toddler duty, and I shift into instructor mode.
Some days I’m filming full-length classes for The Pilates Mom Studio. Other days I’m working on programs (like Peachy Pilates), brainstorming new challenges for our community, or creating content for Instagram and YouTube.
I love this part of the day because I get to pour my creativity into something that helps other moms feel strong, confident, and seen.
🥗 Lunchtime: Refueling & Resetting
Lunch is usually simple but intentional—protein, carbs, healthy fat, and something fresh. Sometimes I’m eating at the table, other times I’m at my desk editing while I eat (real life).
If I’m home and Jaxson is napping, I’ll take 20 minutes to reset—stretch, meditate, or just sit in silence with no one touching me. (Moms, you get it.)
🏃♀️ Afternoon: Mom Life in Motion
The weekday afternoons are when Pilates instructor Erin takes a back seat, and mom-life Erin is in full swing.
We might go for a walk, hit the park, or run errands. Sometimes we’re just at home playing, reading, or making a snack that Jaxson insists on “helping” with (which doubles the mess and triples the time, but is worth it).
🌇 Evening: Family First
Dinner = chill time. Jax and I will watch a movie or show together while we eat. Some parents may say, "You shouldn't do that!" but are those parents here?? I hope not. I personally love this time of night because I love introducing him to old movies or shows that I watched as a kid. It’s nostalgic for me, and it makes both of us happy.
After bedtime, my husband and I try to connect, even if it’s just watching a show together or catching up on our days. This is also when I sneak in some last-minute work and planning for tomorrow, but I try to keep it light.
💖 Mondays: Our Full Family Day
Every Monday is just for us—no work (unless we have to during Jax’s nap), no outside plans unless it’s something the three of us want to do together. It’s our reset day as a family, and I protect it fiercely.
💤 Night: Reset & Rest
By the time I crawl into bed, I’m usually tired in the best way—mentally satisfied from working on something I love, physically tired from being on my feet and moving all day, and emotionally full from the little moments with my family.
Do I get everything “right” every day? Absolutely not. But I’ve learned that balance doesn’t mean equal—it means giving what you can to each part of your life in the moment you’re in.
Final Thoughts: The Real “Behind the Scenes”
The truth is, there’s no magic formula for doing it all. Some days I nail it. Some days I drop the ball. But every day, I show up as best I can—for my students, my community, my family, and myself.
And that, I think, is the real core of it all.
