How to Stay Consistent with Workouts in Every Season of Motherhood
Apr 16, 2025
Let’s be real: motherhood doesn’t come with a pause button—and neither does your body’s need for movement, strength, and self-care. But between diaper changes, school drop-offs, surprise stomach bugs, and everything in between, finding time (and energy) to work out can feel nearly impossible.
So how do we stay consistent when every season of motherhood looks a little different? The answer: we get flexible, we release guilt, and we show up in the ways that work for us right now. Here's how 👇
---
1. Adjust Based on Your Season
Every stage of motherhood brings its own rhythm. Whether you’re in the thick of the newborn fog or chasing toddlers around the house, your energy levels, schedule, and emotional capacity will shift. Instead of trying to force a “perfect routine,” honor the season you’re in.
- Newborn stage? Short, gentle stretches or breathwork during nap time counts. Even five minutes matters.
- Toddler stage? Movement with your little one is golden—our Mommy & Me workouts were made for this.
- School-age stage? You might get more space, so try longer, more structured classes when you can.
💡 Remember: your workouts don’t need to look the same every week to be consistent.

2. Build Flexibility Into Your Routine
Consistency doesn’t mean rigidity. Life is going to throw curveballs—hello, sick kids, laundry mountains, and last-minute appointments. So give yourself permission to pivot.
Have a go-to backup plan:
- Didn’t get your 30-minute workout in? Try a quick 5–10 minute core burner instead.
- Feeling exhausted? Swap Pilates power for gentle stretching and mobility work.
- Running errands all day? Sneak in a standing workout while the pasta boils.
The key? Keep moving forward—even if it's with baby steps.

3. Bounce Back Without Guilt
You’re going to miss days. You might even miss weeks. And guess what? That’s okay.
Taking time off doesn’t mean you’ve failed—it means you’re human. Guilt will only keep you stuck. The moment you’re ready to move again, come back in with compassion and a fresh mindset. Start where you are, not where you left off.
Inside The Pilates Mom Studio, we always say:
“You didn’t fall off track—you were just living life. Let’s pick up from here.”

4. Lean on the Community
This is what The Pilates Mom Studio is here for. You are NOT doing this alone. We’re a group of moms who get it—who show up messy-haired, in pajamas, with toddlers crawling across our mats. And we cheer each other on anyway.
Join our monthly calendar, post your accountability updates, and share your “I almost didn’t do it, but I did it anyway” wins.
You’ll be surprised how motivating community can be when you’re feeling disconnected or stuck.

You Deserve to Feel Good in Every Season
You’re not just doing this to look a certain way—you’re doing it to feel strong, energized, and grounded through every season of motherhood.
So start small, stay kind to yourself, and just keep showing up. 💛 You’ve got this—and we’ve got your back.
